Progress #2

currently i have six paintings that i do not like. i do not like them because they do not make you stop in your tracks and make you think, they only give a bland representation of feeling. one is actually a good representation of feeling, and it is one that sticks out from the others. you can tell when a piece has a lot of feeling, it visually stands out because of its lines and colours, yet it also stands out because it evokes emotion. my paintings don’t reflect who i am and that bugs me. they are not a good representation of myself.

i will paint more paintings.

Progress #1

I am making progress. Progress means that i am thinking about what I need to do next and doing it. I have been making pieces of abstract paintings and pieces of landscapes. I guess they have been my focal point all year because i envision myself as a landscape…..but not a very full one. I guess that is why my landscapes have been bare, with only two or three trees.

Progress #4

The progress I am making on my book is very slow.  I am not productive enough during class to make a book happen in this amount of time. I do not have the tools i need, I just need to get to work. What I want to make this book about is something relevant to every person’s life. No matter what someone battles with. Like when you try and think about something but it all makes too much sense. It’s like that when you try and fix something, but it keeps on doing itself over again so the same mistake is made. I need to get to work on this so this pattern stops from returning.

Progress: #3

“A Pilgrim’s Progress” series came about when I received the book from a friend over the summer. After the reading the book I was so fanatic about it’s meaning that I wanted to do all I could to share the book with everyone. The story is about a pilgrim named Christian, who goes on a pilgrimage to find his way through Heaven and Hell, to find the meanings in a Home, and along the way meets people who join him on his pilgrimage to find his position in life that is not in vain but out of a yearning for truth and reparation. This story is an allegory for every single person out there. We discover truth everyday, and therefor we are all on a pilgrimage when we run a mile, or read a book, or write a symphony, because we are seeking truth in our every moment of awareness.

Progress: #2

The four pieces I am working on in my time in portfolio are not near unification with each other. The pieces are catalysts for the next ones to come. They came from time in portfolio struggling with creative motivation, and came from inspiration the tired morning gave me. I am completing all that I wanted to complete in my timeline, and am pleased to say so.

Progress Report #1- Portfolio
September 18, 2009

As time progresses and my art pieces turn out, I am more satisfied that I got my ideas and feelings out through painting, rather than feeling satisfied with what it looks like. Although the outcome is not surprising to me, the four pieces are really just catalysts to the coming of new material. The four pieces I completed were completed before the deadline. They are landscapes that I depicted from remembrance. They were pieces I did to get my motor running, to get out the junk that lay on top of what needs to be said. It was good to paint meticulously, to put forth patience rather than assemble an abstract painting with abruptness. Although they are 14×11, I wanted to work on a smaller scale because I did not feel a painting of mural size was necessary for the beginning of my portfolio experience. I will start to work on a bigger scale now that it is proven that I can finish four pieces in less than a week. I hope to produce more paintings and hopefully render some sculptures in my progressive effort in portfolio.
