On November 20, a convention was held in the National Convention Center for the artists in the Philadelphia and tri-state area.My mother and I went down to the Convention center with my portfolio in hand, and made our way through the long lines to get to the schools I want to attend. Boston was a big school that i wanted to attend, and with that in mind I waited for an hour in a line not so long but long in time due to lectures of Melissa and Robyn. No debt do they owe me there, because what they ahd to say was all great things of constructiveness. I only got to visit two schools that day, one being School of the Museum of the Fine Arts of Boston and the other Kansas City Art Institute. The two schools stand out to me in their independecne that is so important for their student curriculum, and their individual ways of approaching the student and his;her work. Boston has a lot of performance oriented work to offer, as any other college would, but the difference with boston is that it is a fine arts museum and has a longer history than other schools, which i respect more. Kansas City has a lot to offer in the realm of conceptual work . They respect conceptual work and accept the more abstract rather than the more ordinary form of making art, which is me in my entirety.
Portfolio day was a success because I got to visit two of my Favorite schools, spent time talking to Admissions officers who gave me insightful and spot-on critique on my work (thus giving me insight on myself, which i have much gratitude for), and saw lots of other people’s work who inspired me to be more creative so I can inspire others.
